Tudor Black Bay Blue ETA Small Rose Smiley 79220B Tudor put itself back on the map with the release of the Black Bay series, and the early ETA movements are quickly becoming very collectible amongst enthusiasts. Harking back to the amazing back catalogue of Tudor tool watches, it hits all the right notes for an affordable tool watch that exudes quality, and feels as if it has been built to last a lifetime. Featuring a 41mm case, uni-directional rotating bezel, 200m of water resistance and the aforementioned ETA movement, it's the perfect daily watch. These Blue 79220's differentiate themselves from the later 79230's in a few key ways. Firstly, they were powered by an ETA movement meaning the case was slightly slimmer than the later in-house pieces. The dial features the Tudor rose under 12, and the 'self-winding' text arcs into what collectors know as a 'smile' just above 6 rather than the straight text of the 79230. These small but important features separate them from the more common later pieces, and provide a recipe to ensure future value and desirability. This particular example was purchased new in 2015 and presents in TZ 'Good' condition. Has been worn regularly, and shows scratches and scuffs commensurate with this use. Side of the case also shows small pin dents and nicks, which are numerous but not large. Lugs show scratches from strap changes. Bezel insert shows some small marks and scratches. When the time for service comes most marks would be taken care of with a refinish by Tudor as there's nothing particularly deep. Please see images for full condition details.
