Pewter Candlesticks by Edvin Ollers for Schreuder & Olsson, Sweden (1936)
A pair of pewter candlesticks designed by Swedish artist and designer Edvin Ollers (1888–1959) and manufactured by Schreuder & Olsson (Gjutet Tenn), Stockholm. Both candlesticks bear the Ollers signature mark, the Schreuder & Olsson production mark, and the date code K8, corresponding to 1936. The design reflects the restrained forms associated with Swedish Grace and Scandinavian decorative arts of the 1930s. Edvin Ollers worked across a wide range of materials including glass, ceramics, silver, pewter and textiles, collaborating with several of Sweden’s leading manufacturers during the first half of the twentieth century. Today he is regarded as an important figure in early Swedish industrial design. A documented and fully marked pair from the original 1930s production.
