Tripp, Trapp, Trull – a Two Part Online Group Workshop – July 19th and 26th
This is a live online course consisting of a pre-recorded prep video and two three hour long live workshop sessions; Prep video – In this recording I will tell you all you need to know about getting ready for our two workshop sessions. I will show you the patterns and the templates, talk about colour and let you know what you can do to prepare for the workshop. I suggest you wait with getting your fabrics until after you’ve watched this video as there will be lots of colour talk included. Session 1 – I will show you how to cut, sew and press the multiple curves in preparation for Session 2. Please watch the recorded prep session before you cut your fabric. Session 2 – Recap of session 1 with additional curve demos if needed before we move onto block and quilt assembly. Both workshop sessions will be recorded for you to watch again. Times (Note the two different meeting times and dates): Session 1 – Sunday, July 19th, 5pm-8pm, BST World Time Buddy 9am-12pm PDT 11am-2pm CDT 12pm-3pm EDT Session 2 – Sunday, July 26th, 5pm-8pm BST World Time Buddy 9am-12pm PDT 11am-2pm CDT 12pm-3pm EDT Learning objectives: To learn how to make the Multiple and Twice-cut Drunkard’s Path blocks used in this versatile design. We will cover no-pin curves, colour play, precision piecing, seam matching and much more. In the prep recording I will talk you through the pattern, templates, fabric allowances and anything else you need to know in preparation for the workshop. We will also look at tools and techniques for choosing colour to optimise the optical illusion. I use TouchDraw to colour in my designs and I will do a quick demo of how I use this drawing app. Included: •Pattern including three quilt sizes •PDF Multiple DP templates •Drawing files (Visio, SVG and PDF) for colouring in your own version in your drawing program •Access to the recordings of the prep and workshop sessions What you need: Sewing machine Quality fine sewing thread (40 or 50 wt) in neutral, grey, or to match your project Cutting mat Rotary cutter Fabric scissors Pins (just a few) Access to a printer (for the paper templates) OR my Acrylic template* Hera marker or other non-permanent marking tool/pen Glue stick (useful but not necessary) Level: Aimed at confident beginners to advanced sewists. A basic quilting knowledge (how to use a rotary cutter and ruler and to sew using an accurate seam allowance e.t.c.) is assumed and an interest/fascination in precision piecing will certainly help.
