AQVA POUR HOMME

A distinctive aquatic from perfumer Jacques Cavallier, launched in 2005 and built to capture the depth and power of the sea rather than a generic fresh "blue" breeze. It opens crisp and citrusy with mandarin, orange, and green petitgrain. The heart is where it sets itself apart: a marine seaweed (posidonia) note, salty and slightly bitter, woven with lavender and soft cotton flower. That seaweed accord is the signature of the scent and gives it a mineralic, almost briny character you don't find in most aquatics. It dries down into a warm, woody base of cedar, patchouli, clary sage, and amber that grounds the freshness and adds a subtle dry, incense-like finish. The result is fresh and clean but with real depth and a touch of moody complexity. More "ocean and salt water" than "poolside citrus." A masculine staple that has stayed relevant for two decades.
