1930s Antique Art Deco Metaphoric Cocktail Drinks Cabinet
This stunning piece of furniture is an antique Art Deco cocktail cabinet, dating from the 1930’s. It is crafted from figured walnut veneer, a hallmark of the period, known for its distinctive, decorative grain patterns. The cabinet features a classic Art Deco aesthetic, characterised by its geometric shape and the "stepped" or "cloud" design elements on the sides. This is a "fall front" or "drop-down" bar area. This top section opens to reveal a mirrored interior for preparing drinks, with a mirrored base and back. The two lower doors open to a cupboard space, fitted with wood shelves, a wooden bottle placemat, and full-sized liquor bottles and metal holders. The central horizontal handle on the top section and the small lock on the lower doors are typical of the era, Art Deco pull, made of acrylic and escutcheon made of brass. This distinctive "step" or layered design with contrasting materials was a hallmark of the 1930’s. Antique condition with authentic marks and original patina.
