Introducing Humans/Being: A Photo Journal from The Bitter Southerner. In each volume of Humans/Being we'll focus on one photographer and one body of work that represents a perfect picture of that artist's community ... of their United States of America. In our inaugural volume of Humans/Being, we present the stunning work of Los Angeles photographer Thalia Gochez, along with a jewel of a foreword by journalist Javier Cabral in which he describes the three pillars anchoring Thalia's Latino community: WOMEN, HERITAGE & CHILDHOOD. Yes, the best photographers show us humanity. They show us a world that is true. This body of work from Thalia Gochez does all of that. It's a gorgeous testament to our country, big enough and (if we work on it really hard) beautiful enough to hold us all. Thalia is the first of four photographers we plan to showcase in Humans/Being. We cannot wait for you to see her photography and the photography of our contributors to come in Volumes 2, 3 and 4. Our subscription (4 volumes) will roll out over the next year.
