Naohiro Harada, Tokyo Fishgraphs II
Naohiro Harada (b. 1982, Japanese) revisits the suspended reality of the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics, extending his earlier exploration of Japanese visual culture through the lens of mitate-e—a tradition of playful allusion and reinterpretation. This publication brings together images once set aside: fragments, rejections, and overlooked moments from the original series, now forming a more reflective continuation. In dialogue with ten ukiyo-e prints by Utagawa Hiroshige, Harada further traces the relationship between past and present, absence and representation, echoing the stillness of a city once emptied and the unseen audience it once awaited.
