An exceptionally rare early Gianni Versace piece from the Spring/Summer 1984 collection, featuring the house’s iconic Oroton metal mesh—one of the earliest iterations ever produced. This is not later Versace. This is early, experimental, couture-level Gianni—when Oroton was newly introduced and produced in extremely limited quantities by specialized metal mesh ateliers in Germany. Printed Oroton pieces from this period are particularly scarce, as the process required significantly more labor and precision than standard finishes. The result is a fluid, liquid-metal surface with a soft, textile-like drape, contrasted by bold graphic florals in deep navy, black, and white. The silhouette is striking and highly versatile: a halter-style tunic front with an asymmetric pointed hem, and two long silk jersey panels at the back that can be styled in multiple ways—left to drape, wrapped, knotted, or pinned. Each styling completely transforms the piece, making it feel like several garments in one. Works effortlessly with micro shorts, tailored trousers, denim, or worn as a statement piece on its own. Size: No marked size Best fits: XS–S / US 0–6 (depending on desired styling and drape) Due to the fluid construction and open back, precise measurements are not relevant—fit is adjustable and best judged by styling. Condition: Very good vintage condition. A few very minor, unobtrusive snags to the silk jersey panels One missing Oroton link at the tip of the asymmetric hem Both are visually negligible when worn and do not affect the structural integrity or wearability of the piece. A true collector’s garment and an early example of Versace’s most iconic material—rarely seen on the market, and even less so in printed form.
