The low-yielding 2021 season gave this approachable site extra weight, with tiny berries naturally packing in extra concentration. The winemaking keeps things completely traditional with long skin maceration and maturation in large oak casks. It ensures the terroir speaks clearly without any clumsy modern oak sweetness getting in the way. This skips the hard, unyielding stoniness of the higher plots, offering up an honest, comforting mouthful of dark plum fruit, dried orange peel and a rustic, earth-driven complexity. It has plenty of generosity but stays fresh through the back end. It is easily the first bottle to crack open while waiting for the others to settle in the cellar.
