BroodMinder-BeeDar Entrance Activity Monitor The BroodMinder-BeeDar is an entrance-mounted radar and acoustic activity monitor designed to give beekeepers a clearer view of forager activity at the hive entrance. Mounted above the hive entrance, BeeDar uses radar to monitor bee flight activity in and out of the hive. It also includes an acoustic sensor that listens to hive activity, helping build a broader picture of colony behaviour over time. Rather than simply counting individual bees, BeeDar records activity signals which are then interpreted through the BroodMinder system to estimate bee trips per day and overall hive activity patterns. Important note on subscriptions and support Donegal Bees supplies BroodMinder hardware in Ireland. BroodMinder app access, MyBroodMinder accounts, subscriptions, cloud services, data storage and technical support are managed directly by BroodMinder. The BroodMinder-BeeDar can be read using the BroodMinder Bees app when you are within Bluetooth range of the device. Remote or automatic monitoring requires a compatible BroodMinder hub. Hub-based monitoring, alerts, dashboards and advanced features may require a paid BroodMinder subscription. Donegal Bees cannot set up, manage or troubleshoot BroodMinder subscriptions, app accounts, cloud data or connectivity issues. Important installation note BeeDar is designed to be mounted above the hive entrance. Correct positioning is important for useful readings, and results may vary depending on hive type, entrance layout and placement. Please note that the acoustic sensor may have difficulty with plastic or highly insulated hives. Activate the BeeDar device and complete your first sync. Mount the BeeDar horizontally above the hive entrance using the two screws provided. Position the active sensor close to the centre line of the hive entrance, so that both sides of the entrance are measured as evenly as possible. Place the sensor a few centimetres above the entrance, allowing it to monitor bees as they arrive and depart. View and explore your data through the BroodMinder Bees app and MyBroodMinder platform.
