Angular Bottle Vase - Wood Fired - Wide

Wide, medium-sized, rectangular bottle vase by Suvira McDonald from April 2026. In this work (and its companion piece), Suvira plays with his traditional bottle vase shape, producing a vessel whose wide, enclosed, rectangular form sports three, organic "bottlenecks". It's finished with a smooth base of soft green/grey, overlaid with dramatic, overlapping swathes of crackled glaze, ranging from pale to dark orange, with areas of dripping, melted ash - a dramatic and ever-changing surface resulting from a three day wood-firing. This work functions both as a vase and as a striking, stand-alone sculptural piece. We have two, complimentary, angular bottle vases from this series - one wide, one tall. Suvira McDonald is a legendary potter based in Northern NSW, whose career spans more than 30 years. He's known for his lush, generous forms and glazes, and many pieces are wood fired in a Japanese style anagama kiln. Crackled, fire-coloured surfaces that look like the vessel is itself a glowing ember are a hallmark of McDonald's style.
