Vitex ‘Shoal Creek’ – Summer Color with Easy-Care Southern Charm Vitex ‘Shoal Creek’, also known as chaste tree, is a beautiful, heat-loving shrub or small tree that brings long-lasting summer color to the landscape. Its fragrant spikes of lavender-blue flowers appear in warm weather and are highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. The airy, gray-green foliage adds a soft texture, making it a great choice for sunny borders, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, or as a small flowering tree. ‘Shoal Creek’ is especially valued for its toughness in hot Southern gardens. Once established, it handles heat, humidity, and periods of dry weather with ease, while continuing to provide color when many other plants slow down. At maturity, it typically reaches 10 to 15 feet tall and 10 to 15 feet wide, making it useful as a large shrub, screening plant, or small ornamental tree. It can be lightly pruned to maintain size or shape. Plants are shipped growing in a 3-quart pot. Care Notes: Plant in full sun with well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing, then reduce watering once the plant is rooted in. Prune in late winter or early spring to shape and encourage strong new growth. Hardy in USDA Zones 6–9. This plant may be trimmed slightly to fit in the shipping container. 🔗 For planting and care tips, visit our Growing Instructions.
