Chateau Bernadotte Vintage 2009
Château Bernadotte is a Cru Bourgeois wine estate located in the Haut Medoc region of northern Bordeaux and located only a few hundred meters due west of the Pauillac appellation. The estate was known as Château Fournas until 1997 when it was purchased by May Eliane de Lencquesaing, then-owner of Chateau Pichon Lalande in Pauillac. In 2007 Champagne Roederer took a major control of both properties and sold Bernadotte in 2012. The 2009 vintage was excellent for the region. Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. 75cl bottle. Abv 13% Bottle condition, capsule excellent, label excellent, wine level in neck Tasting Note 06/11/2024 -91 Points Medium garnet in glass, ruby edges. Barnyard on the nose, with leather and blackberry. Grippy, fine tannins dominate the initial attack on the palate, but the dark fruit is immediately apparent, along with some pleasing acidity. By the third mouthful, I developed an appreciation of the style. Medium short finish, carried mainly by the tannins. I wonder if it would still benefit from a few more years to soften further. Still drinking well 2 days later after leaving at room temp. What happens next Your bottle will be carefully hand-packed in our mail-safe wine boxes to ensure it arrives in perfect condition.
