The Last Rose

A wonderfully exuberant French midecntury floral still life, featuring a loose arrangement of roses and garden flowers tumbling from a warm ochre vessel. By the same artist as "The Roses and The Plums." The artist has worked with expressive, painterly strokes and an almost jewel-like palette of pink, crimson, yellow and blue, all made richer against the deep green-black ground. The frame is an ode to the great Dutch masters, custom-made and hand-stained by Harry Eagle. The substantial ebonized frame gives the sweetness of the flowers a little weight and drama. Romantic without being precious, a very good old-fashioned floral with plenty of personality. Keep out of direct sunlight and gently dust with a soft cloth. Please note this item is final sale.
