Vintage 9ct Gold Amethyst Retro Statement Ring 1970's

This is a really stunning mid Century vintage gold ring, set with the most beautiful facet cut oval Amethyst gemstone. The ring was handcrafted in Birmingham, England in 9ct gold with two finely made gold wire work rope applied detail. The facet cut oval Amethyst is one of the best I have had! It has a rich and lustrous violet purple colour with moody flashes of light and dark as the stone catches the light. It is framed within a fine milgrain edged collet setting and measures approx 16mm x 12mm x 8.4mm, which is in the region of 10 carats! It has bi-furcated shoulders and a plain band. ERA : Mid 20th Century, dated 1977. HALLMARKS : 375. for 9ct gold. Birmingham assay office 1977. A.W.G makers mark stamped inside the shank. FINGER SIZE : UK : J 1/2 or US : 6.5. Can be sized.
