Scratch Brooch Small Circle 03

This round pin from Shima Hotta is decorated with geometric, fine line etchings. Certain areas of the metal have been scorched, essentially carbonizing and blackening it. To make these special pieces, the artist coats silver liquid on unprocessed brass up to four or five times, so the silver layer is thicker than the plating. Over time, the silver will tarnish gently for a more antique look; simply polish with a silver cleaning cloth to refresh. Made in Japan.
