Turned Away — Study is the original 11 × 14 work that preceded the larger 22 × 30 composition in Theresa Zingg's What the Body Keeps series. The intimate study explores privacy, withdrawal and the female figure turned away from the viewer. Turned Away captures the female form from behind through loose charcoal lines, expressive gestures, and the imperfect beauty of mark-making. There is something both vulnerable and powerful in the turned figure. She isn't looking toward the viewer or asking to be seen. Instead, she exists within her own space—quiet, sensual, and completely herself. I kept the marks intentionally loose and visible, allowing smudges, unfinished lines, and spontaneous gestures to become part of the work. The result feels immediate and intimate, preserving the energy of the moment it was created.
