Raven RP8Si is a concealed automatic door bottom seal designed for acoustic, smoke, fire, draught and dust sealing at the bottom of hinged doors. It is a professional-grade drop-down seal that is fully morticed into the bottom edge of the door, making it a clean and discreet option for high-performance door assemblies. When the door closes, the seal automatically drops to close the gap between the door leaf and the floor or threshold. When the door opens, the spring-loaded mechanism lifts the seal clear of the floor, reducing drag, wear and friction during daily use. How It Works The RP8Si is installed inside a routed groove at the bottom of the door leaf. When the door closes, the adjustable strike activates the mechanism and lowers the seal against the floor or threshold. When the door opens, the seal retracts automatically so that it does not scrape across the floor. This makes it suitable for doors where a permanent bottom sweep would create drag, interfere with movement, or wear quickly. The automatic action helps maintain sealing performance while keeping the threshold area cleaner and easier to use. The door must be suitable for routing a 15 mm × 34 mm groove without compromising strength or certification. For fire, smoke or acoustic-rated doors, the full door set should be assessed as a complete system. Use with appropriate perimeter seals and threshold details for best acoustic and smoke control. Final adjustment should ensure firm seal contact without excessive closing force. Important System Note Door soundproofing and smoke sealing depend on the complete door assembly. A bottom seal alone cannot make a standard door soundproof or fire-rated. For best results, combine RP8Si with the correct door core, frame seal, meeting stile seal, threshold detail, hinges, hardware and professional installation.
