Black bat flowers are native to southeastern Asia. Their common name comes from the shape and coloring of their flowers. They are also called cat whiskers or devils flower. They are in the yam family, with tubers hiding under the soil. With large, undulating, glossy leaves, even when the bat flower isn't blooming, it makes a statement! Bat flowers contain calcium oxalate crystals, making them mildly toxic for pets. These crystals can cause mouth numbness and GI upset. These plants will thrive in tropical reptile enclosures, but often outgrow them quickly. Plants will ship bare root and are suitable for a 6 inch pot.
