TURKEY-GB..1923 H.M.T. POLAND.CHANAK CRISIS.. [23991]

1923(Mar 28) Coloured ppc entitled Constantinople – Tothana et Bosphore to Norwich, Norfolk, bearing GB GV 1½d cancelled third series FPO 14 cds (29 Mar) which was GHQ Army of the Black Sea. Card datelined by writer H.M.T. Poland, of the troopship used to house the rapidly mobilised troops to counter the Chanak crisis…Mail was bagged aboard ship transported & serviced at the postal facilites in Constantinople, the writer mentions leaving soon & HMT Poland did in fact leave with some troops aboard for the UK via a brief stop at Malta in early April 1923 & returned to her pre crisis duties……such mail is seldom offered & a choice item for Army of the Black sea collectors.
