Airstream 8" x 2" Safety Chain Loop - 451324 is a heavy-duty, structural safety component. It acts as the primary anchor point for the trailer's emergency backup system. Positioned on the underside of the black A-frame coupler tongue. It sits directly beneath or immediately adjacent to the manual/electric hitch jack support plate. Load Rating: Typically matches or exceeds Class IV towing specifications (rated for up to 10,000+ lbs. of break-strength capacity). The "Cradle" Design: Because this loop is a single anchor point centrally positioned on the bottom of the tongue, the two safety chains are fed through it and run out to the left and right sides of your tow vehicle's hitch receiver. This positioning creates the Department of Transportation (DOT) required "cradle" effect under the hitch ball. If the primary coupler pop off the ball, the tongue falls directly onto the crossed chains rather than slamming into the highway asphalt.
