Young Authors Course

Plan it. Write it. Create it. Publish it. The Young Authors Course meets biweekly and is available in-person OR online, Mondays @ 2:00-3:30 PM OR Thursdays @ 5:00-6:30 PM. Recommended in-person for Writers entering 3rd and up, and available online for 6th grade and up. Two 10-week options to choose from: ✏️ Monday afternoons from 2:00- 3:30 PM ✏️ Thursday evenings from 5:00 -6:30 PM Fall 2026 Young Authors Course for Mondays ~ 2:00-3:30 PM August 24 September 7 & 21 October 5 & 19 November 9, 16, & 30 December 7 & 14 Does your child have a story inside of them waiting to be written? In the 10-session Young Authors Course, writers will progress through the steps of creating their own original book from idea to final draft. Through engaging lessons and writing time, writers will explore idea generation, character creation, world building, story structure, editing, and refining to bring their stories to life. Writers will select the format that best fits their story, options include: a chapter book, picture book, comic, or graphic novel style. Throughout the course, writers will work toward completing a digital and/or paper book ready for the final stages of publishing. During each session, campers will receive guidance, encouragement, and feedback from experienced writers and editors, helping them strengthen their storytelling and develop their unique voice. Writers will also learn how authors revise, edit, and prepare their stories for publication. By the end of the Young Authors Course, writers will have a story they are proud of and the option to move forward with advanced editing and print their books through a publishing platform.
