Long, Steady Soapstone Heat in a Mid-Size TruHybrid Wood StoveThe HearthStone Green Mountain 60 Model 8660 pairs a cast iron body with a soapstone-lined firebox and TruHybrid catalytic combustion for clean, extended heat in mid-size spaces.Key Features TruHybrid combustion combining primary, secondary, and catalytic tertiary stages, EPA certified at 0.6 g/hr 79% HHV weighted-average efficiency measured per EPA Method 28R and CSA B415-10 Up to 60,000 BTU/hr maximum heat output burning cordwood, heating up to a maximum of 2,000 square feet Burn time of up to 24+ hours and HeatLife of up to 30 hours, per the current owner’s manual Soapstone firebox lining that stores heat from the fire and releases gentle radiant warmth Large ceramic glass window framing a wide view of the fire 6-inch top flue outlet with an included rear heat shield Product FeaturesA Stove With A ViewThe clean yet traditional styling of the GM60 frames a wide view into the firebox. The cast iron body carries contemporary lines that suit a range of interiors, while the large glass window lets you enjoy the fire from across the room.TruHybrid Combustion TechnologyThe TruHybrid system combines primary and secondary combustion with tertiary combustion through a catalytic combustor to burn smoke and remaining particles for an ultra clean burn that surpasses 2020 EPA standards. A bypass handle routes combustion products around the catalyst during startup and reloading, and a catalyst thermometer indicates when the stove is in the active range. The stove typically operates in the 800 °F to 1300 °F catalyst range.Soapstone Firebox LiningThe GM60 firebox is lined with soapstone blocks that absorb the high heat of the fire and radiate it back gradually. HearthStone calls this extended heat release HeatLife. Under the right conditions, you will be able to start a new fire with kindling up to the end of the product’s HeatLife.Extended BurnsThe current owner’s manual publishes a burn time of up to 24+ hours and a HeatLife of up to 30 hours. Burn the stove low and slow, then add wood to stoke it up again. Actual performance depends on fuel type, moisture content, packing density, draft, and other installation and operating conditions. The manual notes the stove should not be considered the primary heat source for your home.Available Finish and ConfigurationThe Green Mountain 60 is currently offered in one configuration. For the manual’s rear exit connection vent-routing configuration, the recommended minimum chimney height is 19 feet (5.8 m) off the floor, or 16 feet 6 1/8 inches (5.2 m) from the top of the stove. The recommended maximum chimney height is 30 feet (9 m). Proper chimney draft is required for safe, efficient operation; chimney sizing and installation must follow the current Model 8660 owner’s manual and the applicable chimney manufacturer’s requirements, and a stovepipe damper may be necessary where an installation produces excessive draft. The chimney must be at least 3 feet higher than the highest part of the roof opening through which it passes and at least 2 feet higher than any part of the roof within 10 feet, measured horizontally.Outside AirAn optional Outside Air Kit 96-53400 allows direct connection of the stove’s air intake to a minimum 3” (76 mm) diameter duct, supplied by others, leading outside the house. An adapter for 4” duct is available, Kit 90-53308. When using an outside air kit in Canada, the stove must be attached to the home’s floor using the shipping clips that came with the stove and fasteners long enough to attach securely to the subfloor. Outside air is required for all mobile-home installations.Mobile and Manufactured Home InstallationThe Green Mountain 60 may be installed in a mobile or manufactured home subject to special requirements, including: Install in accordance with 24 CFR Part 3280 (HUD) An outside air kit must be used in all mobile-home installations Permanently attach the stove to the floor using the shipping clips and appropriate fasteners Install a Mobile Home Chimney and Connector Kit conforming to UL 103 or ULC S629, including a stainless spark arrester cap Do not install in a sleeping room Maintain the structural integrity of the walls, floor, ceiling, and roof Ensure adequate combustion air is available Remove the chimney when transporting the mobile home Maintain an effective vapor barrier where the chimney or other components penetrate the exterior of the structure Included Equipment Green Mountain 60 Model 8660 woodstove Owner’s manual Parts box with internal parts and instruction sheet (shipped beneath the stove) Rear heat shield 5660-024 (included; distinct from the reduced-clearance heatshield supplied with the optional blower kit 96-57400) Shipping clips (used for floor attachment where required) Compatible AccessoriesAccessories are sold separately.
