Orange Hárslevelű, Tornai
Made from Hungary's native Hárslevelű grape and fermented on its skins for three weeks, this is a beautifully textural, characterful orange wine that shows exactly why the style has developed such a cult following. The nose is packed with dried apricot, Earl Grey tea, wild herbs and a subtle nutty note reminiscent of toasted seeds. The palate is layered and savoury, with ripe stone fruit flavours, gentle tannic grip and a long, herbal finish that keeps you coming back for another sip. Hand-harvested from estate-grown vineyards, the wine is fermented in oak barrels before spending six months ageing on its lees, adding extra depth and complexity. A further three months in bottle allows everything to knit together beautifully before release. Pair with Middle Eastern dishes bursting with herbs and spice, roast poultry, grilled vegetables, hard cheeses, or anything involving tahini, cumin and a little bit of char. This is a wine that loves flavour and rewards curiosity.
