OG Vyper Chair - Robust Steel Pro Backrest
Turn the Vyper Stool Into a Proper Garage Chair The Robust Steel Pro is already a much better place to sit than the cheap rolling stools you find at a big-box store, but it is still a stool. That works well when you’re constantly getting up, moving around the garage, or leaning forward over a project. Once you start spending longer periods in the same position, having something behind you becomes a meaningful upgrade. The Vyper Backrest adds the same style of padded support found on Vyper’s Max chairs to a Robust Steel Pro that was originally purchased without one. It can also be used as a replacement for an existing Vyper backrest that has been damaged or worn out. Vyper notes that a backrest is already included with every Max model, so you do not need to purchase this separately when buying a new Robust Steel Max or Elevated Steel Max. Support Without Overcomplicating the Chair This is the standard Vyper backrest, not the Adjustable Backrest Attachment. There are no height or tilt mechanisms to mess with. It uses a fixed-position steel support frame with a padded backrest that gives you somewhere to lean between jobs and supports your lower back while you’re working. I like that it does not turn the chair into some giant office chair that gets in the way. You still have room to move your arms, rotate your body, lean toward the workbench, and get on or off the chair without fighting a bunch of unnecessary padding. The steel structure also looks and feels like it belongs on the chair. It follows the same industrial construction as the rest of the Vyper rather than looking like a universal backrest that was bolted on as an afterthought. Who Should Add It? I would add the backrest if the chair is going to be used regularly at a workbench, detailing station, assembly area, desk, or anywhere else you may remain seated for more than a few minutes. It makes less of a difference when you’re constantly moving between the chair and the vehicle, but it becomes much more useful during longer jobs. You can lean back between steps instead of spending the entire time holding yourself upright or hunching forward. This is also the correct choice for someone who wants the simplicity of Vyper’s standard backrest and does not need the additional height and tilt control offered by the Adjustable Backrest Attachment. Compatibility The Vyper Backrest can be added to the Robust Steel Pro or purchased as a replacement backrest. All Robust Steel Max and Elevated Steel Max chairs already include a standard backrest from the factory. Vyper designs, welds, powder-coats, and assembles its seating products in Wisconsin.
