Navajo Silver Headstall

Historic Navajo (Diné) silver and leather horse headstall, typically dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Crafted from hand-stamped ingot or coin silver mounted onto durable, hand-cut commercial leather. Features heavy, scalloped silver conchos on the cheekpieces and finely decorated rectangular silver sleeve panels with traditional hand-chiseled, punched, or stamped patterns. The lower terminal connectors enclose the leather straps and join directly to a classic hand forged snaffle bit. Highly prized as luxury equestrian tack, these elaborate headstalls blend Spanish-Mexican structural influences with traditional Navajo metal-smithing artistry.
