Hawk and Horse - Lake County Petit Verdot

Petit Verdot rarely gets to be the whole show — it's usually a supporting player in Bordeaux blends. Hawk and Horse gives it the stage, grown on their own mountain vineyard in Lake County's Red Hills, where volcanic red rock and elevations near 2,200 feet push the grape to full ripeness. The estate farms organically and biodynamically, and the wine ages in French oak, landing dark and structured — think blackberry, violet, and a savory edge of tobacco.
