Puna 'Io KeaWe're thrilled to welcome Puna coffees back to our menu. We often think of the Puna region of Hawaiʻi Island as the Wild West — rugged, volcanic terrain with little soil and heavy rainfall shaping everything that grows there. In many ways, Puna coffee is hydroponic. Roots stretch down into the lava tube caves running beneath upper Puna, and farmers often have to drill through rock just to plant or replace a tree. That interaction with young volcanic landscape is part of what gives Puna coffees their distinct mineral-driven character. This lot comes from a family farm near ʻIo Kea — "white hawk" — and is washed in rainwater, a blend of Caturra and Typica varieties. Rich, sweet, and smooth, with notes of dark chocolate ganache, cherry, and almond, finishing with a hint of orange zest and aromatic cedar. An easy-drinking, hard-to-forget everyday cup — ideal for dark roast lovers who still want nuance in the mug.
