Bar to CSM
Conspicuous Service Medal Bar The CSM Bar recognises a recipient who has been awarded the Conspicuous Service Medal more than once. Rather than issuing a second medal, each further award is marked by a nickel-silver bar carrying the medal's emblem, fitted to the ribbon of the original CSM. A recipient with one or more bars may add "and Bar" (or "and Bars") after the post-nominals CSM. About the Conspicuous Service Medal The CSM is a uniquely Australian military honour, created by Letters Patent on 18 October 1989. It recognises outstanding achievement or dedication to duty in non-warlike service and is awarded mainly to members of the Australian Defence Force. Awards are made by the Governor-General on the advice of the Minister for Defence.
