Restored Oak Bureau
This restored oak bureau would bring warmth, character and practical storage to a study, home office or living room. Its compact design offers a useful writing area while keeping paperwork and stationery neatly organised behind the drop-front. The bureau features a rich natural oak finish, a sloping fall-front writing surface, two spacious drawers and decorative geometric inlay to the drawer fronts. Inside, a fitted arrangement of pigeonholes, shelves and a central drawer provides plenty of space for letters, documents and everyday office essentials. Turned and fluted front legs, sturdy side supports and lower stretchers add distinctive period character, while the dark metal drop handles complement the warm timber tones. One key is provided to lock the main flap, which needs to be gently held closed in order for the lock mechanism to function. The item has been stripped by hand before a clear lacquer was applied, creating a durable finish that highlights the natural grain and decorative detailing. It is presented in good condition. The bureau is predominantly constructed from solid oak, with plywood used for the internal shelving, drawer bases and back panel. A small repair has been carried out on the top and smoothed over with wood filler, which can be seen in the photos. When the main flap is open, the writing surface is 70cm high and gives this bureau a depth of 72cm. A practical and attractive piece, this bureau combines traditional craftsmanship with useful storage and a dedicated writing surface. Its detailed design makes it a distinctive addition to both classic and contemporary interiors. [dimensions][w]80[/w][h]101[/h][d]41[/d][/dimensions]
