This is a celadon covered box fired during the Goryeo dynasty. Viewed from the side, it resembles the shape of an abacus bead it separates into upper and lower sections, revealing a shallow hollow interior. The fit of the lid is exceptionally sharp and meticulously crafted. As these boxes were frequently used by women to hold cosmetics, ointments, or incense, they were often richly decorated with inlaid patterns. The center features a unique design of two cranes arranged in a circular composition. Cranes are auspicious symbols representing longevity and nobility, suggesting this piece was once owned by a high-ranking individual. The cranes are encircled by numerous floral motifs, while the sides are lavishly covered with a continuous, unbroken "meander pattern" . It is a rare example featuring red copper inlays for the cranes' eyes and the stamens of the flowers. The base retains distinct marks from the firing supports (stone marks), and the piece is coated in the characteristic grey-blue glaze of Goryeo celadon. While many such boxes feature chrysanthemum designs, those depicting cranes are particularly rare. There is a small chip on the lower part edge. While the entire surface shows signs of aging, it retains a lustrous sheen with a rich, mellow quality. Although some of the red areas on the flower stamens exhibit a lighter tone, this is believed to be due to the thinness of the surface glaze rather than a result of restoration.
