Moving and Handling Policy (Online GPs) £27
Online GPs provide healthcare services, care and treatment that are delivered remotely and staff are not required to physically move, transfer, reposition or otherwise manually handle patients as part of their role; therefore this policy relates solely to the moving and handling of inanimate objects arising from work activities. Manual handling includes lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, carrying or otherwise moving or supporting a load. Even relatively ordinary workplace activities can result in injury where they involve excessive loads, awkward postures, repetitive movements, unsuitable environments or individual factors that increase risk. When not performed safely, the moving and handling of people and inanimate objects is a regular task that could cause serious injury to both clients and staff. Poor moving and handling practice can lead to: Back pain and musculoskeletal disorders. Accidents, which can injure the member of staff. Potential financial implications to the company.
