They intercrop it with avocado, enset, and soya beans, supporting food security and diverse livelihoods. Boledu honors tradition and experiments too, working with anaerobic and cold-washed methods alongside classic naturals and washed coffees. Their work has earned international recognition, including Cup of Excellence awards. The Boledu washing station anchors the community, offering training, profit-sharing, and premium payments for top lots. With 180 drying beds, the station handles significant volume while giving each lot the attention it needs. This coffee is naturally processed, meaning the cherries are dried whole with the fruit still intact around the beans. As they dry, the beans develop the sweet, fruit-forward character that makes Ethiopian coffees so special. The result is a vibrant, aromatic cup with notes of ripe berries, intense florals, and a lingering sweetness.
