For three generations Selmer's legendary 1950's and 1960's Mark VI's continue to capture the imaginations and ears of musicians and audiences, despite their idiosyncrasies and inconsistencies, because the ones built precisely capture a soul and warmth that have set the standard and endured. To meet the demand for that legendary sound, Selmer invested 12 years of development in refining rather than re-inventing a new sound, to ensure that a true heir to the "great one" is captured in every one it makes by exploiting the precision of modern metallurgy and computer-aided manufacturing to produce impeccable components assembled by masters and verified by unwavering computer accuracy. In homage to John Coltrane's album A Love Supreme, two years after the introduction of its halo alto, Selmer unveiled the splendid Supreme tenor.
