With the Old Corps in Nicaragua | George B. Clark | U.S. Marines & Banana Wars | 2001 Description A detailed history of the U.S. Marines in Nicaragua during the turbulent years between the World Wars. George B. Clark's With the Old Corps in Nicaragua examines the Marine Corps' campaigns in Nicaragua during the 1920s and 1930s, placing the fighting within the broader history of American intervention in the country. The book follows Marine operations against the forces of Augusto César Sandino and the development of the Guardia Nacional, while tracing the experiences of Marines who would later become important figures in Corps history. Among them were future Marine legends including Lewis "Chesty" Puller and Merritt "Red Mike" Edson, whose experiences in Nicaragua helped shape a generation of Marine officers before World War II. The book includes maps, photographs, extensive notes, bibliography and index. Google Books Details George B.
