12pk - Unlabelled Heartland Stickleback Shiraz Cabernet 2023
Produced for export to Canada, now available at a truely CRAZY price! Crafted by award-winning winemaker Ben Glaetzer, this Shiraz Cabernet blend combines 82% Shiraz and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, matured for 12 months in oak. Plush and approachable, it offers ripe red and dark berries, cherry, cassis, smoked herbs and exotic spice. Soft tannins and a velvety finish make this an easy-drinking red to enjoy with grilled meats or hearty mushroom dishes. Heartland Stickleback from Langhorne Creek, South Australia is a medium-to-full-bodied, blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Lagrein aged in French and American oak, and the Lagrein is the secret weapon here, a northern Italian variety that adds a peppery lift and structural grip you won't find in a straight Cabernet-Shiraz. On the nose it's fresh and inviting, with cracked pepper, toasted cedar, and a cool herbal note that keeps the whole thing lively. The palate is juicy and rounded, with dark plum and a long, savoury finish with supple, food-friendly tannins. Winemaker Ben Glaetzer, also the man behind the iconic Amon-Ra Shiraz, founded Heartland after becoming captivated by Langhorne Creek's exceptional fruit quality, a cool maritime region shaped by onshore breezes from the Southern Ocean that boasts some of the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the world.
