Nine Circles Phoenix Tenugui The Nine Circles Phoenix Tenugui is a traditional Japanese cotton tenugui created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Nine Circles brand. It features a striking Phoenix motif and the kanji Sossen Suihan (率先垂範), expressing the idea of “leading by example.” The Phoenix symbolizes renewal, resilience, and transformation, and together with the traditional Japanese design gives the tenugui a strong meaning connected with the values of Budo. The lightweight cotton fabric is highly absorbent and quick-drying, making it ideal for use during training. In Kendo, a tenugui is commonly worn around the head under the Men helmet, but thanks to its compact size it can also be easily stored inside a keikogi or training bag. It can also be used as a towel or as a versatile cloth for everyday use.
