Dark Green and Dark Brown Retta petu Kanjipuram silk saree

A deep forest-green body glows with jewel-like richness, laid out in bold zari checks with golden buttas resting within the squares like blossoms held in a gilded lattice. Framing it on either side is a dark brown retta pettu border — twin bands of zari laid one beside the other in traditional creeper and paisley detail, doubled in the measure only the patient looms still keep. The pallu opens into a magnificent brown expanse, its dense gold brocade unfurling row upon row like carvings on a temple wall. A matching brown blouse completes this heirloom.
