Finished garment - Tudor woman's white ramie gorget

• Finished garment • Tudor Tailor exclusive Woman's white ramie gorget made for The Typical Tudor book and suitable for a middling to gentle woman from the 1485s to 1603. Gorgets were worn to mimic fine smocks under gowns with wide or deep necklines. The sources for the garment include: • A figure on a memorial brass to Arthur Pennyng. and his two wives (1593) St Andrew's Church, Kettleburgh, Suffolk • A linen shirt (1567) Nils Sture, Uppsala Cathedral, Sweden • Figures on a monument to Sir Maurice Berkeley and his two wives (1581) st Mary’s Church, Bruton, Somerset Made of white ramie with two white cotton tapes to tie under the bust/around the waist. There is a slit opening which can be positioned at the front or the back depending on the desired look. The collar can be worn open at the front or pinned closed at front or back. The gorget is entirely hand sewn. No other garments are included.
