Antique-inspired, cats's eye purple sapphire solitaire engagement ring

Provenance Crafted in our own workshop using traditional techniques, this beautiful ring is designed to be treasured for a lifetime. At its centre sits an amazing cabochon-cut sapphire featuring the rare phenomenon known as chatoyancy. The sapphire was personally selected by Sam during his travels around the globe in search of the world’s finest gemstones. A chatoyant sapphire displays a luminous band of light that appears to glide across its surface as the stone moves, creating a ‘cat’s-eye’ effect. Caused by light reflecting from fine, parallel needle-like inclusions within the gem, this phenomenon is best revealed by a smooth, domed cabochon cut. The sapphire has an intriguing mauve shade of purple with muted grey-blue undertones. In a smooth rub-over setting with a closed gallery that recalls Georgian era design. Solid shoulders flow into a comfortable D-shape 14ct yellow gold shank, hallmarked at the Sheffield Assay Office. Inspired by antique design, the low-profile setting sits beautifully on the finger, combining everyday comfort with timeless craftsmanship and heritage.
