A Mexican jacket—an item that continues to be loved as something to “keep and pass down”—reimagined through the lens of SEVESKIG. The graphic motif pays homage to the lyrics of the Irish folk song “Molly Malone,” sung by an old man at the beginning of the film A Clockwork Orange, rendered with a halation effect. Furthermore, an original appliqué by RIDAWO, an artist familiar to SEVESKIG, is placed throughout, creating a strong presence as an iconic accent. The garment is crafted from an original wool fabric that combines wool yarn dyed with persimmon tannin and sumi ink with nylon yarn recycled from discarded fishing nets, while making full use of rice husk-derived charcoal produced by Kansai Sangyo. Persimmon tannin provides insect- and rot-resistance as well as static electricity suppression, while sumi dyeing offers deodorizing and antibacterial properties and creates deep, nuanced shading. Furthermore, the carbon in sumi ink is said to emit weak far-infrared rays, which also helps gently maintain body temperature. Together, these properties reduce stress on the skin when worn and naturally relax the mind and body, achieving a “recovery-oriented wearability.” The lining is made from an original brushed cotton-rayon pajama flannel with a pleasant feel, creating a soft, enveloping fit. Reinterpreting a traditional outer garment in the spirit of 〈Conserve〉, this is a Mexican jacket that is uniquely SEVESKIG, with materials, philosophy, and graphics organically fused together.
