Vintage Aubusson in the Louis XV style. A round rosette medallion in a blue and gold lattice frame sits on a pale ivory field scattered with pink and red roses and blue ribbon bows. Urn cartouches fill the corners inside gold and red acanthus scrolls, and a soft terracotta border finishes the carpet. Light, refined and very French.Hand woven in the Aubusson tapestry technique: a flat weave made entirely by hand, colour by colour, the same way carpets were woven in Aubusson, France in the 18th century. 100% wool, with no pile and no latex. Carpets from this workshop carry a label stating they use more than sixty shades of wool and take a team of designers and weavers over a year to complete.Brand new and never used, yet vintage: it was woven decades ago and is no longer in production.
