Vintage Star Ruby Ring 18k c. 1990
A beautiful, natural six-ray star ruby cabochon ring in rich 18k yellow gold circa 1990. When you hear the term "star" used to describe a gem, what it is referring to is asterism - a characteristic of some gems where a star is formed in direct light by light running over naturally occurring inclusions in the stone. Gems like these are classified as "phenomenal" in the gemology world, but it is also a great adjective to describe these mysterious stones because they are absolutely phenomenal to look at! Ruby weighs approximately 2.32ct. Ring is currently size 9 and can be resized by our jeweler up or down as needed for an additional charge. Stamped "750" for 18k and tested. Face of ring measures 13mm north to south at the widest. In excellent vintage condition! Please note that the star is not visible under every light source which is typical of gems with asterism. All purchases from Bavier Brook arrive in an elegant box, fully wrapped in fine paper. Please inquire for international shipping. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions, we are happy to answer them!
