Some Pages Of A Book Much Bigger Than This
“Here are some pages of a book much bigger than this. They were planned three years ago to see the light at the occasion of an exhibition which then didn't take place. Boekie Woekie, the Amsterdam team of 3 artists (Henriëtte van Egten, Rúna Thorkelsdóttir and Jan Voss) selected those pages to illustrate their long haul of a shop as a work of art or the l.h. of a work of art as a shop. Two more exhibitions were planned. One of which is now behind us and the other is about to begin in a few days. I, Jan Voss, began these lines in '23, and learnt it's better to not be specific, you never know. A few years are too long a time to feel certain, especially for people who are no longer young. We'll see what will happen, but these sheets happen now. What you'll hold in your hands or what will be lying before you when you look at, or even read this, came into existence in split seconds, okay, some pages may have taken minutes, and let the one or other be the result of a few hours what are those moments in comparison to all those weeks, months and years which we live undocumented. That considered what remains of our time are random souvenirs. Knowing that has guided us compiling these pages — they are a random selection of that.” This publication contains 300 randomly selected text and/or image pages from a pool of 660 pages from earlier books or print portfolio’s made by the Boekie Woekie trio, due to this random selection each copy is unique, with text and image contributions by Maike Aden, Florian Cramer, Aldo Frei, Anne Thurmann-Jajes, Christa-Maria Lerm Hayes, and Helgi Skúta Helgason, designed by Andrea Salerno. Text in English and German. Hand-bound, cardboard hardcover, 29,5 x 21 cm, 656 pages, open numbered edition, Amsterdam 2026
