Drosera prolifera
Drosera prolifera is an extremely unique species of sundew from Queensland, Australia. It is an unmistakable plant, with kidney-shaped leaves at the ends of semi-upright stems. However, the most unique feature of Drosera prolifera are the long runners that it produces. At the end of each runner is a tiny clone of the parent plant. If the clone makes contact with soil, it will produce a new plantlet. This "prolific" growth pattern gives D. prolifera its name, as well as the nickname "hen-and-chicks" sundew! Drosera prolifera prefers lower light levels compared to most other African and Australian sundews. This makes it an ideal candidate for a windowsill that might not have enough light for other carnivorous plants. Drosera prolifera is also a member of the "3 sisters" of Queensland. The other closely-related sister plants are Drosera adelae and Drosera schizandra. This Drosera prolifera sundew plant will be shipped in a moss plug with a 3.5" plastic pot and enough top-quality New Zealand long-fiber sphagnum moss to fill it. Planting and growing instructions for this sundew plant will also be included.
