Intro to Pine Needle Basketry (May 30 and 31, 4-6pm • Lyons)
Date/Time: Saturday, May 30th and Sunday, May 31st (4-6pm both days) Location: Honorable Harvest in Lyons Join us for a weekend exploring coil basketry in the sweet setting of the Honorable Harvest Tea Shop and Apothecary in Lyons, Colorado! Through this four-hour workshop, spread over two days, you’ll learn how to use coil basketry techniques to make a small pine needle basket. After we discuss the origins of pine needle coil basketry and the basics of pine needle foraging, you will learn how to create your own little vessel. Skills covered will include how to prepare pine needles for weaving, how to create the initial spiral around a wooden center, how to build the walls of your basket, and how to finish, clean, and seal your basket. All tools and materials will be provided. Ages 12 and up.
