Wall relief Mithras, Tauroktony, Alabaster plaster
This compact wall relief shows the Tauroktonie — the central cult image of the Mithraic cult in which Mithras sacrifices a bull. The replica is based on the relief from the Mithraeum of Nida (Frankfurt-Heddernheim), now in the Archäologisches Museum Frankfurt.Due to the small size, the secondary figures (dog, snake, scorpion, raven) that appear in larger reliefs are missing. Here too, the colored product photo is a possible drainage reconstruction, not the actual one colour.
