Antique Edwardian 1910s 14K platinum-topped gemstone bar pin

A stunning turn-of-the-century bar pin in its original box. While I believe that this piece was imported (the hallmarks appear to be Dutch), it was sold in America by William Friswell Jewelers in Norwich, CT. The lithe design pre-dates the Art Deco Era. A thin (1.2mm x 2.4mm) squared-off bar of platinum-topped gold runs the length of the pin, supporting little scalloped cups at either ends to hold a pearl. A pair of oblique-set gemstones cling to the bar near the center. A .50 carat Old European Cut diamond set in platinum and a .60 carat natural sapphire set in gold. Catch and safety lever closure.
