PORTICO (2026)

Acrylic on canvas 180 × 240 cm Framed in black Tasmanian oak PORTICO explores the idea of arrival - the quiet threshold between the outside world and refuge. Rather than depicting a specific location, the painting distils the architectural language of Mediterranean villages into a composed abstraction of walls, passages and open sky. Restrained colour, geometric form and confident linework create a sense of permanence, inviting the eye to move slowly through the composition. Designed to complement contemporary architectural interiors, Portico reflects Joanna Wolthuizen’s ongoing exploration of memory, place and belonging.
