Office Hours
Description: An instructor led session to help you through the tricky parts of your sewing projects. We can’t offer classes on every sewing pattern, but this two hour session is meant to give you access to our instructors’ knowledge and guidance to build your confidence in your sewing practice. We do ask that you let us know what you’ll be bringing to work on ahead of the class time -- we will share a form closer to the class date via email. If you are working on a very advanced project or custom tailoring project, please reach out to us first to check that we will be able to assist in this class setting. Our instructors are experienced sewists but aren’t experts in everything. We want to make sure we can provide proper assistance for your project. In this course we'll go over: Installing zippers Using buttonhole foot to make a buttonholes Finish up the last steps of a Start Sewing Series project Trying new techniques like the burrito method for yokes Guidance through tricky methods like the burrito method, or sleeve plackets. Class Duration: 2 hours Students Bring: The sewing project you would like help on, all of the fabric pieces, notions, the pattern pieces if you have them, and the instructions. You are welcome to bring your own machine to work with if you know it is in good working condition. If you do bring your machine, please bring your manual (physical or PDF), your cables, and the additional presser feet and bobbins that came with it. Prior to Class: We will reach out to you a week prior to class for you to fill out the form to tell us about your project so our instructor will have time to prepare. Skill Level: Confident Beginner/Intermediate Skill Details: This class is designed for confident beginners and intermediate sewists to help them build confidence in their skills with the guidance of instructors. Students should have used a sewing machine before and be comfortable with sewing basics. Age Range: Adults 18+ Teens 15 and up may attend with an adult who is also registered Location: 822 South Third Street Renton, Wa 98057 Our classes are priced on a sliding scale.
